Antonio Jesús Pinto Tortosa
Training and Professional experience
Born in Antequera (Málaga, Spain). Graduate in History at the Universidad de Málaga (UMA, 2006). Master’s Degree in Hispanic Studies at the Universidad de Cádiz (UCA, 2007). Collaborative grant holder at the Seminar on Contemporary History at the Universidad de Málaga (UMA, 2006). He is currently a predoctoral scholar at the Institute of History of the CSIC (JAE-Predoc, 2008).
Research lines
He is a research member of the Comparative Studies Team on Caribbean and Atlantic World of the CSIC, where he is engaged in studies of 19th-century social, political and economic history of the Spanish West Indies. He focuses his research on the social, political en economic evolution of Cuba and Puerto Rico during the second third of the 19th century.
